Truman Elementary  - Elementary Music Instructior (2011 - Present

  • Weekly supervision of over 550 students
  • Constructed a rigorous but enjoyable 3 - 5th grade music curriculum drawing heavily upon the methods of Zoltan Kodaly and Carl Orff.
  • Wrote and organized yearly programs for each grade
  • Assisted with the Nevada High School Marching Band

Conservatory of the Ozarks – Applied Music Instructor (2010 – 2011)

  • Constructed curriculum for individual instruction on band instruments
  • Organized recruitment and promotional material and events
  • Operated an applied music studio of band instrument students from ages 6 adult
  • Assisted in the organization and direction of recitals and special programs

Mansfield Public Schools – Band Director (2007 – 2009)

General Duties
  • Maintained sole responsibility for a band program of greater than 200 students
  • Taught 6 – 12 band, 6th grade general music, high school music appreciation, high school jazz band and high school advanced music
  • Organized and directed extra-curricular activities, concerts, trips, parties, band booster meetings, fund raisers and activities falling outside of the school day

Recruitment and Retention
  • Maintained an average above 80% for beginning band member recruitment
  • Organized and directed recruitment and promotional materials and events

Marching Band
  • Organized the first field marching band in Mansfield history, which took home six trophies (including: best drum major, best in color guard, best in class, 1st place parade) and made finals at the band’s very first competition
  • Wrote all marching drill and choreography and arranged music
  • Maintained responsibility for the Colorguard and arranged for the writing of its award winning choreography

Other Contributions of Note
  • Maintained a top performing concert band which received excellent ratings and all competitions
  • Established the first performing Jazz Band in Mansfield History
  • Established the first Advanced Music course in Mansfield History
  • Maintained a full schedule (7:00 am – 7:00 pm) of free after school private lessons for band students
  • Arranged music to fit the band’s specific strengths and instrumentations
  • Had 30% of 8th graders take solos to competition, all of which received a I rating
  • Supervised the education of the first two students to pursue instrumental music degrees in Mansfield history
  • Developed and created many of the instructional materials / resources used in music courses

Parkview High School – Assistant Band Director (2006 – 2007)
  • Assisted in the direction and operation of the schools 140+ student instrumental music program
  • Directed the Parkview High School Concert band which received excellent ratings at contest
  • Maintained sole responsibility for the direction and organization of the school’s second jazz band
  • Assisted in the direction and facilitation of the Parkview High School Marching Band
  • Assisted in the successful administration of the Valhalla Marching Festival
  • Assisted Band Director Mr. Curtis Tipton in the facilitation of travel plans and other administrative tasks

Missouri State University – Graduate Assistant (2006 – 2007)
  • Organized and instructed courses on “introduction to music education” for freshman music majors
  • Organized and instructed courses on “music integration in the elementary classroom” for Early Childhood education majors
  • Assisted Coordinator of Music Education Dr. Norma McClellan in various administrative tasks
  • Conducted quantitative data analysis on a study of music teachers and special education

The Summit Preparatory School – K – 6 General Music Teacher (2005 – 2006)
  • Designed and developed the instructional curriculum for K – 6 general music courses
  • Maintained sole responsibility for the development and instruction of all K – 6 general music courses
  • Worked with administrators and teachers to develop recruiting and fundraising programs
  • Organized and facilitated whole school holiday programs and other extra curricular activities
  • Wrote the school’s “Holiday Extravaganza” program
  • Maintained a full schedule of after school band instrument lessons
